Carl Griffith Obituary

Carl Curtis Griffith entered this world on Tuesday, September 30th, 1980, in the vibrant borough of the Bronx, New York. Born to the late Joseph Alexander Griffith, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Walker Griffith, Carl brought joy and warmth to their lives from the very beginning.

His formative years were spent amidst the bustling streets of the Bronx, where he received the foundation of his education. In 1996, the family embarked on a journey that led them to Lawrenceville, Virginia, where Carl completed his education. In 1999, driven by a sense of duty, Carl enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving until 2001. Following his military service, he returned to Lawrenceville, Virginia, reuniting with his parents.

A devoted and caring son, Carl stood by his mother’s side through thick and thin. When his father faced illness, Carl took on the responsibility of caregiving with love and compassion. His kindness, devotion, and respect endeared him to all who knew him.

Carl was a man of many passions, excelling in both basketball and football, and finding joy in the rhythms of music and the intrigue of crime shows on television.

On the fateful day of Tuesday, December 26th, 2023, Carl transitioned from this earthly life while under the care of VCU MCV Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. In addition to his beloved parents, Carl’s departure was preceded by his older brother, Tony Griffith, Sr.

In the wake of Carl’s passing, we are left with a void that only his memory can fill. He leaves behind cherished recollections for those who mourn him, including his longtime companion, Shamika Futrell of Lawrenceville, Virginia; a brother, Joseph Griffith, Jr. of Lawrenceville, Virginia; a sister, Wanda Davis of New York; three nieces, Shaquan King, Anacia Griffith and Tamara Parker, all of New York; one nephew, Tony Griffith, Jr. of Lawrenceville, Virginia; his great-niece, Aamiyya Gibbs of New York; a sister-in-law, Qylimah Griffith of Lawrenceville, Virginia; brother-in-law, Rahim Davis of New York; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Though our hearts ache in sorrow, Carl’s legacy lives on through the precious memories we hold dear. As we say our goodbyes, we find solace in the thought that Carl now rests in eternal peace, forever in our hearts.
