Mrs. Josephine E. Mayes Baumgardner, 79 of Richmond, Virginia, answered God's call from earthly labor unto eternal rest on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at her residence.

Josephine was born July 30, 1939, in Emporia, Virginia, to the parentage of the late Leroy Mayes and Lucy Ann Carey Mayes.

Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of: her son, Todd D. Baumgardner of Richmond, Virginia; her siblings, John A. Mayes (Fannie) of Chesapeake, Virginia, Rev. Sylvester N. Cain of Richmond, Virginia, Lynnette Mayes of North Chesterfield, Virginia, Juliette Mayes and Dorothenia Moore both of Richmond, Virginia and Fred E. Mayes (Debra); a host of relatives and friends.
