Lily Mae Conner was born October 18, 1939 to the late Lamar Mason Sr. and Willia Green Mason. She departed this life on August 30, 2019 at her home in Virginia.
At an early age she joined Salem Baptist church in Emporia Virginia, and recently attended Newness of Life Outreach Ministries. Lily Mae attended R. R. Moton public schools.
Lily Mae was a staple of the Washington Park neighborhood. She managed two stores that serviced the community. Many would find themselves there nightly, immersed in good food and enjoying the game room.
She was nurturing, loving and caring, and also known for her fondness for children. Lily never turned a child away from her doorstep, and it is believed that she raised more than 35 foster children. She had a very happy spirit greeted all with a wonderful smile daily.
Lily Mae met and married her sweet heart, Johnny Edward Conner December 5, 1970 for 47 years until his death. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt and Friend.
Preceding her in death, her husband Johnny Edward Conner, Sister Virginia Allen, Nancy Atkins, Sister-in-law Shirley Mason, Brother, Larry Mason Brother-in-Law, Troy Atkins, Sisters-in-law Mary E Gant, Viola Thomas, and Bernice Kyles, Brothers-in-law, Alfred N. Conner and George S. Conner.
She leaves to cherish her memories: four daughters; Helen Greene (Aaron), Barbara Gillus, Pamela Conner, and Natasha Epps (Brandon); Three Sons, Lloyd Conner (Yamesia), Antonio Conner (Tasha), Chance Feliciano (Deanna); Four sisters, Shirley Edge, Betty Atkins (James), Thelma Conner (Edward), Diane Mayfield (Barry); Two brothers Willie Mason and Lamar Mason Jr. (Paulette); Four Sisters-in-law, Hattie R. Ford, Pecoria Dance, Elsie M. Robinson and Alease Smith; One brother-in-law, Ronald L. Conner; Fifteen grandkids, Nikea Banks, Andrea Harrison, Nathaniel Gillus Jr., Sharnelle Gillus, Teona, Kyanna, Taiquona, Aveona, Meyana, Azavianna, Amber and Devonte Conner, Giles Hill, Noah and Nola Epps; Two great-grandchildren she was very fond of, Ahloni and A’laydend Jones and a host of niece, nephews, family and friends.
