Mary Campbell Obituary

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”

~ Psalm 46:1

Mary Belle Campbell, a native of San Angelo, Texas, was born on October 8, 1948, to the parentage of Mary Pullen Crumpler-White and the late Benjamin Crumpler.  As youngest of the six siblings, Mary was known as the baby girl.  Growing up in San Angelo was short lived as the family transitioned to Newark, New Jersey, where Mary began her educational journey in the school system, at that time.

Her education and upbringing prepared her for the workforce. ‘Mary Belle’  become an outstanding employee of the Internal Revenue Service, where she worked for many years.  Life for her was about accomplishing goals and loving people!

Much was accomplished throughout the life of this sweet and caring soul.  In 1978, Mary made one of the best decisions she could ever make - which was to be baptized and join the ministry of the Newark Church of Christ - Newark, New Jersey. It was there that her spiritual gifts were developed and love for God deepened. A life devoted to God and ministry was her personal calling and purpose! As a warrior and soul-winner for Christ, you could often find her witnessing to so many people - whether young or old.

‘Belle’,  as she was affectionately called, didn’t mind knowing the “Law of the Land”, but also knew the “Law of the Lord.”  Many spoke of her as the “Walking Bible Lady” because she internalized the word of God and most importantly displayed what she knew.  Mary understood what Jesus said in Matthew 24:35, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” Her life meant so much to so many, as she lead souls to come to know the Lord as their personal savior. Even during her periods of illness, she ministered to those who were around her and in doing so, touched their hearts with the love of the Lord.

While in the serenity of her home on Monday, May 27, 2019, Mary Belle Crumpler Campbell  transitioned from this earthly tabernacle to a building that’s not made with hands and eternal in the heavens. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Benjamin, Jr. and niece, Gloria Crumpler.

A life well lived. A life well loved. The Life and Legacy of Mary Bell Campbell will live on through: two children, Tylean Crumpler and Tyrone Crumpler (Alina);  grandchildren, Tim Crumpler Sr, Tymaree, Xavier and Xaccai Crumpler; great grandson, Tim Crumpler, Jr.  her mother, Mary Crumpler-White; siblings, Benny Crumpler, Blanche Lowery, Linda Bailey (Marvin) and Timothy Crumpler;  a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
