On March 21, 2014 God called Peggy Ann Gittens to eternal rest. She was a dedicated mother, a faithful family member and a loyal friend. She was born in Greensville County on April 3, 1942 to the late Dora and Ralph Adams. She attended Greensville County Public Schools in Emporia, Virginia. Peggy became a member of Rising Star Baptist Church at an early age and later joined St. Gregory's Church in Baltimore, Maryland. Peggy spent most of professional life working in nursing homes in Baltimore, Maryland as a caregiver. Peggy was known for her strength and courage. She served as the source of inspiration for all who knew her. Her household doors were always open and she was always willing to lend a helping hand. Peggy loved to laugh and is undoubtedly smiling down on us now. She leaves to cherish her precious memories; three children: Fawn Hughes(Michael), Jacqueline Crowther(Kevin) and Dr. Brian Gittens(Cheryl), seven grandchildren; Christopher Miles, Reshawn Pritchett, Joi Pritchett, Alton Hughes(Lamont), Bryant Hughes, Brian Gittens(Myles) and Bryce Gittens, three great grandchildren; Lanajah Miles, A'mira Miles and Jonah Jarczynski-Hughes, one sister; Dorothy Avent. Peggy had six sister who preceded her in death; Rosa Lee, Elsie Bynum, Addie Henry, Bettie Walker and Elma Sykes, three brothers who preceded her in death; Wilbert Adams, Reuben Adams and James Adams, eight nieces and nephews with whom she was raised as a sister; Carolyn Miles, Robert Lee, Jr., George Lee, Dr. Linda Whitaker, Faye Belfield, Sandra Hicks, Donald Lee(Deceased) and Ronald Lee and a host of loving friends.
