Obituary

Like a shadow in the moonlight, like the whisper of the seas, Like the echoes of a melody  just beyond our reach

In the shadow of our sorrow, past the whisper of goodbye, Love shines through eternity, a heartbeat from our eye.

With humbled submission to the will of God, we pause to pay tribute to the memory of “Reginald” - our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Reginald Dewon Webb began his life journey on Monday, October 22, 1956 in Emporia, Virginia, to the parentage of the late Johnnie Webb, Sr. and Mable Hicks Webb.

Being reared in a Christian home, Reginald realized what the Bible said in Isaiah 55:6, that says, “Seek the Lord while He may be found.” He did just that, accepted the Lord as his savior at an early age, was baptized and joined the Jerusalem Baptist Church, Emporia, Virginia.

While growing up in rural Southside Virginia, Reginald was educated in the Greensville County Public Schools and graduated from Greensville County High School, Class of 1974. He continued to embrace education and matriculated through Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina pursuing and receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.

Shortly thereafter, Reginald united in Holy Matrimony with the love of his life, Cynthia Pair, on September 15, 1979 and God blessed this union with two children, Katrina Tamika Webb and Antwan Dewon Webb.

He loved his family and friends, but he also held working near and dear to his heart. Reginald was no stranger to hard work.  For more than 27 years, he was gainfully employed with Georgia Pacific of Emporia as a Millwright. He was the financial secretary and past president for the union. He was Past Master of the Emporia Masonic Lodge #101. He was also a member of the Black Pot Group, wherein he loved to cook and serve the community in any capacity that he deemed necessary. Often times, if Reginald was not working or serving his community, you could find him out on the water fishing, gardening or visiting family and friends.

“Don” as he was affectionately called, loved people and he never met a stranger. He was a people’s person and loved a good laugh.  He would do anything he could to help those in need. His kindness, willingness to help others, and loyal friendship will be greatly missed and forever remembered by those whose lives he touched in so many special ways.

On Thursday, November 7, 2019; while at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Virginia; God released Reginald Dewon Webb, from this world of sin, sorrow, pain and suffering,  to a place of peace and sweet eternal rest. In addition to his parents, Reginald was preceded in death by his daughter, Katrina; brother, Earl Webb; sister, Katie Kee; mother-at-heart, Nina Pair; and brother-at-heart, Percy Pair.

A golden heart stops beating, hardworking hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best. We, who are bound by treasured ties of affection and love, as we pass him to God’s keeping are: his beloved wife of 40 years, Cynthia; son Antwan (Yolanda); grandchildren, Kameron, Shiyanah, and Nazair Webb; grandchild-at-heart, Jadyn; brothers, Johnnie Webb, Jr. (Mildred) and Billy Webb; sister, Bert Webb; sisters-at-heart, Anna Pitt, Zelia Stephens, Seretha Ivey (Frankie), Annette Pair, Suzette Phipps (Barney); brothers-at-heart, Gene, Mckinley, Lawrence (Sue), Willie (Cynthia) and MacArthur; a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday and days before that too! We think of you silence, we often speak your name. Now all we have are memories…and a picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake. With which we’ll never part. God has you in his keeping and we have you in our hearts!

Until We Meet Again - Prayerfully
