Stanley 'Lowe' Taylor Obituary

THE LIFE OF Stanley Lorenza Taylor

Like a shadow in the moonlight, like the whisper of the seas,

Like the echoes of a melody just beyond our reach

In the shadow of our sorrow, past the whisper of good-bye,

Love shines through eternity, a heartbeat from our eye.

Stanley Lorenza Taylor was born on Tuesday, August 18, 1942, to the loving care of the late Casper and Sarah Dobby Taylor in Southampton County, Virginia. Growing up in rural southside, he attended Southampton County Schools.

At the tender age of eighteen, Stanley packed up his life in Virginia and migrated to the metropolis of Paterson, New Jersey. While there, he became gainfully employed in the shipping and receiving department of Savens Robins Paper Company, where he remained for thirty-two years. He was a true “country boy” who loved the outdoors. He grew and matured to be an avid gardener and recreational fisherman. Oft times you could find Stanley out on the water fishing or on the land gardening; being in the natural environment was one of his favorite pastimes.

In 1968, “Lowe”, as he was affectionately called, met the love of his life, Joanne. They ultimately married on Saturday, November 18, 1978. This love was long-lasting, as they were united in Holy Matrimony for almost 41 years! Stanley was a true family man who loved his family unconditionally. Many family traditions were started and carried on in Paterson, as he loved to barbeque, especially on the Fourth of July and Labor Day, he would throw the biggest cookouts on the block! These cookouts brought family and friends from near and far together for great food and fun, creating many lasting memories.

After living in Paterson, New Jersey, for fifty-two years, he packed up his family, and they relocated to Emporia, Virginia, where he lived for the last fifteen years of his life. On Wednesday, November 13, 2019, while in the serenity of his home, Stanley Lorenza Taylor entered into eternal slumber and rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Jones; siblings, Leon, Jasper, Casper, Darnell, Hugh, Herbert, Anne, Zelma, Isabelle and Stella.

Stanley leaves a legacy of love and many treasured memories to: his wife, Joanne Taylor of the home; children, Shelia Jones and Lisa Perry both of Paterson, New Jersey and Sylvester Blackwell of Seattle, Washington; sonat-heart, whom he and his wife reared just as their own, Jermane Jones; grandchildren, Tamara Osbourne, Talitha Jones, Zamiah Blackwell, Bilal Jones, Anthony Putman and Dapri Osbourne; eleven great-grandchildren; one great, great-granddaughter; one brother, Ernest McCoy Taylor of Paterson, New Jersey; sisters and brothers-at-heart, Lois Lockette of Virginia, Margaret Odom, Mary Odom, Pernell Odom, Roy Odom, James Odom all of Paterson, New Jersey; a host of other relatives and friends.
