Be the first to offer your condolences on Willis's Tribute Wall
The loss of a father, no matter how old you are, changes your life forever. Willis Daniel Manning, was always known for his singing, dancing and just being the life of the party, while having the room exploding with laughter. Willis was very knowledgeable and kindhearted to both family and friends.
Willis was born March 12, 1948, in Greensville County, Virginia to the parentage of the late Claude Parham Manning, Sr and Ida Ethel Lundy. He was educated in the Greensville County Public School System. After High School, Willis enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country from 1968 to 1970. He held various jobs and for many years was employed with Central State Hospital Forensic Unit, as a Security Officer, until he became disabled.
On Monday, January 14, 2019, our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Willis D. Manning, peacefully slipped into eternal slumber, while in the care of VCU MCV-Hospital, Richmond, Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Claude P. Manning, Jr., Evelina Gilliam, Warren Manning, Doretha Turner, Lind Leslie and Emily Rose.
Willis leaves to celebrate and honor his legacy: his beloved life-partner of forty years, Carolyn Manning; two daughters, Kimberly (Eugene) Miles of Prince George, Virginia and Ashley Manning of Richmond, Virginia. His union of four years with Clovia Watson, brought forth two sons, Malcolm Manning (Patricia) of Rocky Mount, North Carolina and the late SFC Keith Manning (Michelle). Survivors also include: sisx grandchildren, Kimiyah, Kirema, Kenisha, Keyannta, Leya and Deon; one great-grandchildren, Keyanta; one brother, Johnny Manning (Joyce) of Charles City, Virginia; two sisters, Aubrey Simmons of Georgia and Ida McBeth of Emporia, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
