Alvin Lucas Obituary

Alvin Joseph Lucas, the eldest son of Solomon Russell Lucas, Sr. and Priscilla Parham Lucas was born on Monday, August 20, 1945. He attended James Solomon Russell High School. He worked on the farm until he decided to relocate to New York, where he lived with his close friend, Steve Jones and his family. Upon his arrival to New York, Alvin worked hard and established himself as a man.

As life progressed, Alvin returned to Virginia, where he met the love of his life, Carolyn Bassett. They were married on September 17, 1966. He was a devoted husband for over 55 years; a loving father, grandfather and friend. During his time in New York, Alvin became a top baker and served as manager of Dunkin Donuts, for 25 years. He was an avid farmer. Alvin loved to sing and was an established guitarist. He retired from the Greensville County School System, as a bus driver.

On January 10, 1998, Alvin became a dedicated and baptized Witness of Jehovah. He was a faithful servant, until the end. He valued and cherished his relationship with his family; spiritual brothers and sisters; and most importantly, with Jehovah God.

Alvin departed this life suddenly on Thursday, August 25, 2022; in Emporia, Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: three sisters, Lula B. Prince, Bernice Simon and Joyce Jones and one brother, Louis Lucas.

He leaves to cherish many memories: his wife, Carolyn Lucas; his son, Anthony Lucas (Kathy); his daughter, Angel Lucas all of Emporia, Virginia; one granddaughter, Sequoia Lucas of Emporia, Virginia; two grandsons, Larry A. Wyche, Jr. (Kelli) of Washington and Shawn Wyche; four greatgrandchildren, Legacy Dupree, Alayna Wyche, Chosen Wyche and Haly Wyche; six brothers, Solomon Russell Lucas, Jr. (Alma) of Lynchburg, Virginia, Gilbert Lucas of Emporia, Virginia, Clifton Lucas, Sr. (Arnetta) of Freeman, Virginia, Russell Lucas (Betty) of Emporia, Virginia, Terry Lucas (Carolyn) of Richmond, Virginia and Waddell Lucas of Petersburg, Virginia; two sisters, Elsie Jackson of Buffalo, New York and Elaine Lucas of Freeman, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
