Angel Monique Lucas, 59, fell asleep in death on Thursday, February 12th, 2026. Her passing has left a profound ache in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, yet her life remains a beautiful testament to faith, love, and quiet strength.
Angel was born on Tuesday, November 22nd, 1966, in Hackensack, New Jersey, to the loving parentage of Alvin Joseph Lucas and Carolyn Sandra Lucas. From an early age, Angel was known for her kind spirit, gentle manner, and unwavering inner strength. She was educated in the public schools of New Jersey. After relocating to Virginia, she furthered her education by attending Paul D. Camp Community College of Franklin and later began her career at Greensville Health & Rehabilitation Center in Emporia, Virginia, where she served faithfully for 12 years earning the respect of colleagues through her diligence, integrity, and gracious disposition.
Above all else, Angel’s greatest love was for Jehovah God. She symbolized her dedication by water baptism as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a commitment that guided her steps and shaped her character throughout her life. Angel cherished the ministry and faithfully shared Bible truths with others. She found deep joy in speaking about the hope found in God’s Word and took special care to encourage those who were discouraged. Her steady, loyal service to Jehovah was evident to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Angel was preceded in death by her beloved father, Alvin Joseph Lucas. She leaves to cherish precious memories: her daughter, Sequoia Lucas of Emporia, Virginia; her sons, Larry A. Wyche, Jr. of Washington and Shawn Wyche of Emporia, Virginia; her four treasured grandchildren, Legacy Dupree, Alayna Wyche, Chosen Wyche, and Italy Wyche; her loving mother, Carolyn Lucas and her brother, Anthony Lucas (Kathy). She also leaves former spouse and father of her children, Larry Wyche Sr.; a host of aunts, uncles, relatives, and dear friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
The comforting words of Psalm 34:18 remind us: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Likewise, at John 11:25, 26, we find reassurance in Jesus’ promise: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” These inspired promises strengthen our faith that Angel rests safely in Jehovah’s memory, awaiting the fulfillment of the resurrection hope.
“Falling asleep in death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
“Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure; you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.”
“There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they are gone, the light remains.”
“Like a bird singing in the rain, let grateful memories survive in time of sorrow.”
A beautiful soul has completed her earthly journey and will be deeply missed until the day we are reunited. Yet even in sorrow, we find comfort knowing that Jehovah is near to the brokenhearted. May today’s grief gently give way to the peace and comfort that come from God’s enduring love.
It will be the little things that remain — the quiet moments, the warm smiles, the shared laughter. Though the pain may feel heavy now, in time these cherished memories will soften the sorrow and bring tender smiles once more. Your loved one will always be as close as a memory, and the God of all comfort will always be as near as a prayer.
Until the day we see her again, we hold tightly to our memories and to the sure and steadfast hope found in Jehovah’s promises.
