Barbara Allen Obituary

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

~ Romans 8:18

Barbara Anne Allen was born in Emporia, Virginia, on February 16, 1956, to the late Willie Augustus Allen and Pansy Chavers.

Barbara was educated through Greensville County School System and earned her GED in 1978. She attended Halifax Community College and earned an Associate Degree in Social Services in 1993. Barbara went on to Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Virginia, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management.

Barbara Anne accepted Christ in Christian fellowship with the Church of the Living God, Emporia, Virginia, on June, 2019. Barbara Anne’s educational background afforded her the opportunity to be employed as Case Work Counselor at Greensville Correctional Center for many years. She then went on to work as a Child Protective Services Investigator for Sussex County, located in Virginia, from which she retired in 2014, due to her health.

Barbara Anne was known to family for her genuine love, radiant smile, witty comical conversations and her great sense of fashion. She was flamboyant yet humble and quiet, and would give her last to help anyone in need. Barbara loved her family. She was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. She found joy in listening to music every day.

How is it that we never saw your wings when you were here with us? When you closed your eyes and soared to the Heavens we could hear the faint flutter of your wings as you left. Your body no longer on this side your spirit here eternally we see your halo shine. We close our eyes and see the multicolored wings surrounding us in our saddest moments and our happiest times. Mother, Grandmother, our Angel. God has given you your assignment always in our hearts, forever our Angel. You fly into our dreams and when we are asleep We feel your wings brush against our faces wiping away the tears we shed. Since we can no longer hold you in our arms but in our heart. You earned those wings dear Mother, Grandmother and you will always be our angel eternal. On Sunday, November 20, 2022 at 5:33 a.m., while in the care of Bon Secours Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Virginia, God lifted Barbara Ann Allen from this world of sin, sorrow and pain to a place of peace and sweet eternal rest. Her seeds are well sown. Her service here on earth is complete. She is now basking in the victory and triumph of eternal life.
