Betty Cooke Obituary

On December 19, 1961 life was given to Betty Ann Crawley Cooke.  She was born into the capable hands of the late James and Mary Crawley. At an early age, she came to know and accept Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. As she matured, she joined the White Chapel Church of God in Christ of Emporia, Virginia. Her life*s true testimony was: "I've lost some good friends along life's way, Some loved ones departed in Heaven to stay, But thank God I didn't lose everything...I never lost my hope, I never lost my joy, I never lost my faith."
Betty Ann never let go of her faith, she continued to praise, worship and give thanks to God. Not only was her reach vertical with God, but also horizontal with humankind. Some of her most precious moments were spent cooking, reading, writing and decorating.  Her tasty dishes tempted the palettes of many, as she was known for her famous "Betty Burgers" and Alfredo.  In her quiet time, she devoted to reading and studying the Word of God and writing inspirational poems. Her poems, food and genuine love for people touched many lives - you could often find her serving her community.
Mrs. Ann enjoyed serving so much so that she served for many years as a cook at McDonalds and Pizza Hut. She took her employment seriously and served with joy and gladness.  She also worked as a daycare provider for families, while living in the Carver Circle Community of Emporia.
Above all, Betty Ann was a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend, who will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she touched in so many special ways. God saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb, so on Tuesday, July  2, 2019, at Waverly Health and Rehabilitation Center of Waverly, Virginia, He gently closed her eyes and whispered, "Peace be thine". Betty Ann is now resting with her beloved parents, James and Mary Crawley; brother, Clarence and sister, Melissa Crawley.
The voice of Betty Ann Cooke has been silenced, but her spirit lives on today and forever more in the hearts and minds of; son, Donte Cooke of Marlin, Texas (Their bond will never be broken. She would always would tell him, "two hearts, beat as one"); sisters, Shelia Smith (Greg) of New York and Angela Crawley of Emporia, Virginia; brothers, Carlos and Marcus Crawley both of Emporia, Virginia; aunts, Susie Dunn of Richmond, Virginia, Dorothy Jordan (Melvin), Gladys Gillus and  Elaine Staten all of Emporia, Virginia; uncles, Sam Rawlings of Emporia, Virginia and Robert Crawley of Washington, District of Columbia; nephew, Tyrique 'Pastor', Antonio 'Cake', Carlos, Kaleel, Isaiah and Antonio; nieces, Mariah, Kadejah, Marcasia, Martricia, DyAsia and Damani; great-nieces, Takeda and Zoey; godson, Titus Taylor; sisters-at-heart, Maybelle Whitson and Barbara Lynch; a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
