Brenda Squire Obituary

Brenda Squire, aged 65, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5th, 2025. Born on Saturday, January 2nd, 1960, in Branchville, Virginia, to the late Lillian and Harvey Chappell, Brenda lived a life defined by love, strength, and unwavering faith. Raised in Washington, D.C., she was educated in the District of Columbia school system and graduated from Armstrong Charter School. From a young age, she displayed a deep sense of compassion and a heart committed to service—qualities that would shape her journey through life.

In 1992, Brenda married her beloved husband and best friend, Anthony Squire Sr. Their union was one of deep partnership and enduring love. Together, they raised five beloved children: Antonio Chappell and Tina Chappell of Washington, D.C.; Zamena Squire of Pennsylvania; Anthony Squire Jr. (wife Darnae Squire) of Missouri; and Antwan Squire (wife Lainey Squire) of Texas. Brenda was also a proud and devoted grandmother to six cherished grandchildren: Brian Joshua, Myricle Chappell, Demonte McDonald, Nijai Chappell, Zi’aun Squire, and Alani Squire. Her love for them was boundless, and she was a steady and guiding presence in their lives.

Brenda’s faith in God shaped her life and defined her character. She professed Christ at an early age and lived each day with compassion, humility, and a spirit of generosity. Known for her kindness and selflessness, she never hesitated to help those in need—often offering the very clothes off her back. Despite life’s trials, Brenda carried herself with quiet dignity and grace, never uttering a complaint.

She served her community with dedication through her work with the Prince George’s County School Board, where she was respected and admired for her strength, work ethic, and joyful spirit. Her life stood as a testimony to the goodness of God and the sustaining power of prayer. Her favorite words of comfort, “I’m looking it over, and I’m in my mansion,” now serve as a reminder that her pain is no more and her peace is eternal.

Brenda was predeceased by her loving parents, Lillian and Harvey Chappell; her brothers Julius and Robert Chappell; her only sister, Diane Wyche; and her godparents, Shelton and Mamie Harris. She is survived by two devoted brothers, Harvey Chappell and Jeffery Chappell (wife Sharon), as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who cherished her deeply.

Brenda’s legacy is one of steadfast faith, enduring love, and quiet strength. Her life encourages us to lean on the Lord, cherish our loved ones, and live with a heart wide open. As Brenda would lovingly say, “It’s never goodbye—it’s always see you later.” May her memory be a light that continues to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
