Calvin Pearson, Sr. Obituary

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,

that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

~ John 3: 16

Calvin Earl Pearson, Sr., son of the late Joseph and Bessie Mae Murphy Pearson, began his journey through life on Saturday, October 15, 1960, in Lenoir County, (Kinston) North Carolina.

Calvin, who was affectionately known to many as ‘Pop, Unk, Bruh, Big Fella, Boss Man, Shawty, Dad, and Mr. Calvin’, was educated in Onslow County (Richlands) North Carolina.

“...Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. (Joshua 1: 9) As life progressed, Calvin relocated to Emporia, Virginia. For the past eight years, Calvin was employed with OSG of Emporia, where he served as Leading Forklift Operator of shipping and receiving of the armor and packing department.

“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.” (Maya Angelou) While at OSG, Calvin met and was later united in marriage to his beloved wife, Cindy. He was a hard working, stubborn, but very loving man, who shared his knowledge and life experiences to be a blessing to those around him. In his spare time, Calvin loved to watch television - especially Westerns, The Cooking Channel and football. As the New England Patriots #1 fan, Calvin could be found at any given time rooting for “His” team.

On Sunday, January 3, 2021, while in the comfort of his home; Calvin gained “two wings to veil his face, two wings to veil his feet and two wings to fly away, so the world could no longer do him any harm”. In addition to to his parents, he is now reunited with those who preceded him in death: his daughter, Natasha Brantley; six brothers, Willie Lee Burnette, Andrea, Johnzee, Gerald, Joseph and Eddie Pearson; four sisters, Rosa Pearson, Glenda Lewis, Josephine Wiggins and Lovietta Perry and one uncle, Robert Hall.

“Sad is the parting, no one can tell: So sudden on earth the sorrow fell, The blow was hard, the shock severe; To part with one we love so dear. Dearer still, as days depart; Our loved one’s memory will forever live within our hearts: his wife of 5 years, Cindy Pearson of the home; three sons, Darius Harris of Emporia, Virginia, Calvin Pearson, Jr. of Bridgeport, Connecticut and Jermell Toudle of Fond Dulac, Wisconsin; seven sisters, Edna Flowers of Beulaville, North Carolina, Lillian Pearson of Charlotte, North Carolina, Brenda Cummings (Willie) and Arnetta Affi (Ipou) both of Richlands, North Carolina, Donzetta Jordan of Pollocksville, North Carolina, Claudette Williams of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and Deloris Pearson of Clinton, Maryland; six brothers, Sampson Pearson (Connie) of Jackson, Georgia, James Bennette (Cleo) of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Willie Bennette (Elizabeth) of Danville, Virginia, Albert Camell (Annie) of Pink Hill, North Carolina, Jeffro Camell (Linda) of Deep Run, North Carolina, and John Camel of Kinston, North Carolina; one aunt, Mary Burrus (Dennis) of New Bern, North Carolina; one great-aunt, Eunice Burney Williams of Trenton, North Carolina; mother-in-law, Lucinda Weaver; brothers-in-law, Eddie Smith of Emporia, Virginia, Linwood Weaver of Washington, DC and John Weaver of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Beatrice Burnette of Littleton, North Carolina; his OSG family, Sidney, Rufus, Caitlain, Joe C., Chip, Jeffrey J., Kevin P., James M., Leland M. and Marvin H.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
