Calvin Larry Robinson, son of Mattie Louise Robinson Harrison and the late James Williams, Jr. was born on Thursday, September 12, 1957, in Emporia, Virginia, where he resided and thrived all of his life.
Calvin was educated in the Greensville County Public School System. To help provide for his family, he held various positions of employment; most notably, 6 years with Boar’s Head of Jarratt, Virginia.
In 1984, Calvin met the love of his life, Dorothy L. Prince. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to flea markets, watching his Westerns and spending quality time with his family. Calvin also loved going out to the farm to fire off his guns and helping his wife with the garden.
Life is but a stopping place, A pause in what’s to be, A resting place along the road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, Different paths along the way, We all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay… Our destination is a place, Far greater than we know. For some the journey is quicker, For some the journey’s slow. And when the journey finally ends, We’ll claim a great reward, And find an everlasting peace, Together with the Lord. On Thursday, July 20, 2023; while in the the care of VCU/MCV Hospital, Richmond, Virginia, Calvin Larry Robinson was called home to eternal rest. He was a true warrior throughout his illness. In addition to his father, Calvin was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Jones.
Though the clouds may hang over, there will be a brighter day, in that land that they call heaven, God shall wipe all tears away. We, who are bound by treasured ties of affection and love, as we pass him to God’s keeping are: his beloved wife of 32 years, Dorothy Robinson; his mother, Mattie Harrison of Emporia, Virginia; two daughters, TaQwen Agurs of Marietta, Georgia and Victoria Walton (Corey) of Emporia, Virginia; one son, Tommy Walton (Birgit) of Savannah, Georgia; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-five greatgrandchildren; one brother, Fernandes Sandlain (Linda) of Gaston, North Carolina; aunts & uncles, Sarah Dickson (Clifton) and Andre’ Kelly both of Petersburg, Virginia, Ida Mae Wyche, Catherine Odom and Moses Odom all of Emporia, Virginia; sister and brothers-in-law, Pearline Small, Louis Prince (Patrice) and George Prince, III all of Emporia, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
