In the peaceful day time hours on October 28, 2014, God chose to call one of his angels home. It was then Carrie Goins Scott departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Carrie was the fifth child born from the union of the late Willie and Leola Holmes on July 24, 1944 in Lithonia, Mississippi. She was raised in a very close knit family with strong family values and morals. Carrie was a kind, loveable, and dependable woman. Carrie accepted Christ as her Lord and personal Savior at a very young age. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Queens, New York. After she moved to Emporia, Virginia, she fellowshipped where heart lead her. Carrie was nurturer, supporter, comforter and she loved everyone with Agape love. She loved God first and foremost. She loved her children and everyone else's children. She loved music, she love to laugh, she loved to dance and pray. She was a praying woman!!!! If three words were to be chosen to describe Carrie Goins Scott with expression, they would be GOD, FAMILY, and LOVE. We could have chosen friends, but everyone of her friends became family. Carrie was preceded in death by her parents; Willie and Leola Holmes, her husband; Tarleton "Chipper" Scott, three brother; Bill, Leroy and John Holmes, two sisters; Helena Holmes and Dorothy Lee Washington. Carrie leaves to cherish her loving memories her devoted children, Sandra Goins-Lewis, Peronica G. Blunt (Elvis), Jauton Jordan (Nequea, Sr.), Traci Booker (Billy), Lydia Kearney, Billy Lassiter, Jr. (Cynthia), Ernest Lassiter (Dorothy), Chris Lassiter (Cynthia), one brother; Charles Holmes (Katie), two sisters; Florida Mae Coleman and Linda Streeter (Tommy), one sister-in-law; Patricia Holmes, five grandsons; Roland, Travis, Nequea, Jr., Naqaun and Elvis, Jr., one granddaughter; Janiyah, one great-grandson; Harlem, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.
