Cheryl Haskell Obituary

Cheryl Denise Holmes Haskell departed this life on April 8, 2015. Cheryl known as "Buckey" was born on October 25, 1961 in Richmond, Virginia. She is the eldest daughter of Ernest and Mollie Jean Holmes. Cheryl was baptized at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and attended services at various churches in the Richmond area. She graduated from Marshall-Walker High School, class of 1980. She went on to pursue a degree in Political Science at Virginia State University and eventually, J. Sergeant Reynolds, Community College. During her later years, she began working at Alcoa, Inc. where she remained a faithful machine operator for almost eighteen years. Although Cheryl was a soft spoken and a quintessential girly girl, she was a diehard Redskins fan and took on any opportunity to engage in a bit of trash talk with any and every Cowboys fan she came in contact with. She enjoyed watching "Let's Make a Deal" and "The Price is Right" with her parents every morning. as she took on most of the morning duties for her parents when their health began to fail. She loved cooking and making her family taste new recipes she created from her favorite chefs on the cooking channel. Her mother, Mollie Jean Holmes and sister, Lana J. Holmes precedes her in death. She leaves her father, Ernest Holmes, Sr.; sisters, Brenda l. Holmes and Joy M. Holmes; brother, Ernest Holmes, Jr.; and one niece, Janel L. Holmes (Joy) all of Richmond, VA to pick up where she left off. She leaves a host of family, friends, co-workers and classmates to cherishe her memory.
