She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed. (Proverbs 3: 15 - 18)
Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. (Proverbs 31: 25-26)
Chestine Loraine Wyche-Blount, daughter of the late Walter Edward Cain and Ethel Mae Mathis, began her journey through life on Sunday, September 6, 1942, in Greensville County, Virginia.
‘Chest’, as she was affectionately called by her family and close friends, was educated in the Greensville County School System; graduating with her high school diploma from Baltimore City School of Girls. After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Coppin State University, she would go on to earn a Master of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University.
Chestine was married to Kelly Blount. Their union was blessed with three sons. She was dedicated to her family and community. As a result of her generous spirit, warm and friendly demeanor; Chestine made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed cooking soul food, reminiscing on old times and sharing wisdom, as well as, laughs with loved ones. She was a skilled and highly-educated nurse and problem solver. She will be deeply missed by friends and family, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all that knew her.
When peace like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll, Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul.” On Friday, June 4, 2021; while in the serenity of her home, ‘Chest’ recalled the refrain “It is well, it is well with my soul” and crossed the great divide, exchanging life for eternal rest. Her seeds are well-sown; her service on earth is complete, and she experiences the victory and triumph of eternal life. She is now reunited with those who have preceded her in death: her parents and stepmother, Marie Garner Cain; son, Victor Blount, Sr. and Calvin ‘Pete’ Blount; granddaughter, Kimberly Blount; and brothers, Shelton Cain, Carson Cain Sr., Lindbergh Garner and James Floyd Cain.
