Deacon Edward Tucker Obituary

“Your life was a BLESSING, Your memory a TREASURE,

You are LOVED beyond words and missed beyond MEASURE.”

On Monday, January 6th, 2025, Deacon Edward Elonious Tucker, affectionately known as "ET," entered eternal rest at home. He was a devoted and loving husband, son, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend. ET’s life was a beautiful testament to his unwavering faith, dedication, and deep love for his family, friends, and community.

Born on Saturday, August 4th, 1956, in Halifax County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Abraham Lincoln Tucker and Christine Virginia Tucker. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved son, Donti Jamar Tucker.

ET joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, where he served faithfully in various ministries. He was the former assistant superintendent of Sunday School, a member of the usher's ministry, the kitchen committee, and the deacon ministry. His dedication to his church was evident in all aspects of his life.

A lifelong resident of Greensville County, ET received his education in the Greensville County Public School System. After high school, he proudly served his country in the Air Force for four years. Upon completing his military service, he worked for Union Camp Corporation, which later became International Paper. He then joined Enviva Pellets, where he continued working until health challenges led him to retire. During his retirement, ET cherished spending time with his nephew, Kenny Chatman, working on various home projects, and indulging in his favorite hobby—working on cars, especially restoring his beloved conversion van.

ET was united in holy matrimony to JoAnn Atkins Tucker on May 24th, 1980. Together, they shared forty-four years of love and companionship, a bond that will continue to endure beyond his earthly departure.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, JoAnn Atkins Tucker; his sister, Cathy V. Tucker; his three brothers, Abraham A. Tucker, Thomas C. Tucker (Stephanie), and Al L. Tucker (Shanda); four aunts, Susan Hite, Alice Moore (Eddie), Lelia Davis, and Janice Wright; two uncles, James M. Tucker (Alice) and Clinton C. Tucker (Mary); six nieces, Adrian Chatman (George/Kenny), Alisa Tucker, Ardemise Tucker, Vicktoria Gatling, Deja Gatling, and Ashley Tucker (niece, goddaughter, and daughter of his heart); one nephew, Frederick Tucker; one great-niece; two great-nephews; one sister-in-law, Patty Atkins; one brother-in-law, Vic Gatling; three special cousins, Damaris Johnson, Lula Mayes, and Christine “Mona” Sumblin; three close friends, Mike “Scooby Doo” Whitaker, McKinley Sykes, and Eric “Cook” Benton; and a host of other relatives and friends.

ET’s legacy of faith, love, and commitment will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed.
