THE LIFE & LEGACY
OF
Deaconess Elizabeth Wells Mason
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven;
A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to break down and a time to build up”
~ Ecclesiastes 31:1-3
A TIME TO BE BORN:
According to God’s will and Purpose, Elizabeth Wells Mason, was born to the union of the late Benjamin and Emma Parham Wells, Sr. on July 20, 1930 in Jarratt, Virginia.
Elizabeth was the sister of the late Spilman Wells, Willis Wells, Benjamin Well, Jr., Clifford Wells, Rebecca Tyler, Claresa Thomas, Mary Wells, Virginia Wells, Estelle Cunningham and Rosa Brooks.
A TIME TO BE TRAINED:
Elizabeth was educated in the Merry Oak School. She loved Reading and Arithmetic.
A TIME TO LOVE:
On December 7, 1946, Elizabeth united in Holy Matrimony with the love of her life, Moses Lee Mason. Together they shared 64 years of marital bliss, before he passed away in December 2010. Moses and Elizabeth made their home in Emporia, Virginia and were blessed with six loving children.
A TIME TO SERVE AND WORK:
Elizabeth professed her faith in Christ at the tender age of 11; was baptized and she united in Christian Fellowship with Little Shiloh Baptist Church of Emporia, Virginia. She loved attending church! She served faithfully through the years; was an active member of the Usher’s Ministry and Deaconess Ministry.
To help provide for her family, Elizabeth worked as a domestic engineer and was employed with Kingsberry Homes.
A TIME TO REFLECT:
Elizabeth found great joy in spending quality time with her family. She was affectionately called “Ms. Lizzie” by her family and friends and “Granny” by her grandchildren. She loved reading her bible. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23. She also enjoyed solving puzzles, word searches and baking. Many can attest to having tasted her delicious homemade rolls.
A TIME TO REJOICE:
With her devoted family by her side, Elizabeth peacefully transitioned from earthly labor into the arms of our Heavenly Father on Friday, October 29, 2021. She leaves to cherish many precious memories: five children: Diane Mason, Loretta Mason and Lorrine Mason all of North Chesterfield, Virginia, Albert Mason and Jerome Mason both of East Orange, New Jersey; three grandchildren, Ashli Mason, Monique Mason and Deja Mason all of North Chesterfield, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
