Deaconess Linda Rae Waller Roberson, daughter of the late Benjamin Waller and Sissie Belle Roberson Waller Thomas, was born on Saturday, August 1, 1953 in Greensville County, Virginia.
Early in life, Linda accepted Christ and joined Diamond Grove Baptist Church, Skippers, Virginia. She was educated in the Greensville County Public Schools System; graduating from Greensville High School, Class of 1972. She then went on to college, where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Travel, as well as, Business.
In June of 1977, Linda enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving her country for 21 years, until her Honorable Retirement, as Sergeant 1st Class. After her retirement, Linda resided in the Tidewater area, where she worked as a Travel Agent for approximately 5 years. She was also employed as a Customer Service Manager with American Airlines.
Linda recognized very early in life that she enjoyed serving others. Therefore even after serving her country, she returned to her roots in Emporia and became very active within the community. During the pandemic, when travel and personal affiliation was limited, she developed a close relationship with a number of individuals, who frequently visited the Huddle House. This group was affectionately called “The Huddle House Group”.
After returning home, Linda became a very active parishioner of the Diamond Grove Baptist Church. Through the years, she served her church faithfully until her health declined. She was a member of the choir; Past President and Past Secretary of the choir; Assistant Secretary of the Sunday School and also a Deaconess. Linda was committed to Christian Development, as she regularly attended bible study, Sunday School, worship services and other church activities.
