Deloris Robinson Taylor, whose life’s journey began on Friday, August 4th, 1944, in Greensville County, Virginia; was the second oldest among ten siblings born to the late Ersie Jane Robinson.
Affectionately known as ‘Lo’ by her cherished family and friends, she received her education in the public schools of Greensville County. Early in life, she professed her faith in Christ and joined in Christian fellowship with the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.
Before her health declined, ‘Lo’ found joy in playing softball, fishing, attending local churches, cooking for loved ones and spending quality time with family and friends.
As we reflect on her life, the lyrics of a cherished hymn come to mind: “Oh, they tell me of a home, Far beyond the skies. Oh, they tell me of a home, So far away. Yes, they tell me of a home, Where no storm clouds rise. Oh, they tell me, Yes, they tell me of an uncloudy day.”
On Tuesday, December 19th, 2023, in Petersburg, Virginia, God called Deloris home, lifting her from this world of sin, sorrow and pain to a place of everlasting peace and rest. Her seeds have been well-sown, her earthly service complete, and now she basks in the victory and triumph of eternal life. Alongside her beloved mother, she was predeceased by two brothers.
Deloris is survived by the lasting memories held in the hearts of: her five children, Chester Cuffee, Jr. of Emporia, Virginia, Patricia Cuffee of Chesapeake, Virginia, Terri Johnson (Chauncy) of Petersburg, Virginia, Tyrone Taylor of Richmond, Virginia and James Taylor of Emporia, Virginia. She also leaves behind eighteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and seven siblings, Mary Hicks (Marvin Baldwin), JoAnn Person, Sylvia Hill (Sam), Alexander Robinson (Carolyn), George Robinson (Althea), MacArthur Robinson (Wanda) and DeWayne Robinson (Phyllis). Additionally, Deloris is remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
May her soul rest in peace, and may the cherished memories of ‘Lo’ bring comfort and solace to those who loved her.
Relatives and Friends are encouraged to visit Mrs. Taylor's tribute wall to share memories, extend condolences and to order floral tributes, as sentiments to the family.
