Memories are treasures no one can steal. Death is the heartache nothing can heal.
Some may forget you now that you are gone, But we shall remember you no matter how long.
On Monday, October 15, 1956, while in Greensville County, Virginia, Frances Bennett was blessed with a son, Dennis McCoy Bennett, whom she would love, nurture and adore. Dennis was also greatly loved by his great-grandmother, Lula Bennett and his grandmother, Nancy Bennett Easter.
Dennis’ early childhood education was obtained in Virginia. He then went to live with his mother and attended P.S. 36 Louis Pasteur Junior High School and eventually graduated from Cardozo High School. Upon graduation, he matriculated at York College, before deciding that work was the ‘key’! (smiles)
During his career, Dennis held employment with Manufacturer Hanover Trust, American Express, Leham Brothers and Minolta, Country Lincoln Mercury and Kyocera Mita American, Inc. He was an outstanding salesperson, which enabled him to travel to various places, including, Germany and Nassau, Bahamas.
Dennis accepted Christ and was baptized at Saint Paul Baptist Church, Brooklyn, New York, under the leadership of Pastor Johnny Ray Youngblood. He later became a member of the St. Albans Congregational Church, St. Albans, New York, where he served on the Usher’s Ministry and in many other capacities.
On Sunday, September 10, 2023, while in the care of The Laurels of Bon Air, Dennis peacefully transitioned from this earthly life.
Treasured memories of his life and legacy will forever remain in the hearts and minds of: his mother, Frances Bennett Avents; his wife, Annette Powell Bennett; daughters, Krystal Bennett, Kristina Bennett Davis and Dennett Bennett; grandsons Kenyon, Kassius, Kaim’eryn, Kai’den; his special auntie, Dianne Bennett, whom affectionately called him ‘Den Den’; a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Relatives and Friends are encouraged to visit Mr. Bennett's tribute wall to share memories, extend condolences and to order floral tributes, as sentiments to the family.
