T he Life & Legacy of a Great Woman
Evangelist Terry Lynne Moore was born on Friday, June 12th, 1954, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Leonard Warren Polk and Earties C. (Glover) Polk. She spent her childhood in Emerson, Arkansas, where she was lovingly raised by her mother and Aunt Norvell Ferguson. Growing up in a sanctified home with her three brothers and three cousins—Gerry, Stephanie, and Stanley Young—Terry shared a bond of love and unity with her family, who were more like siblings than cousins.
Terry graduated from Emerson High School and furthered her education at Southern Arkansas State University for two years. She later married and was blessed with two children, Tameka Christopher, who preceded her in death at birth and Cedric Christopher.
Terry moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, where she worked at Vantage Nursing Home, offering her compassion and care to the elderly. Her love for people shone through in all her endeavors. It was in Little Rock that she met the love of her life, Larry Moore. The couple married, and together they were blessed with two children, Larry Duane Moore and Nicholas Ryan Moore.
They became members of Rosedale Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Raymond Savage, where Terry and Larry sang in the choir and faithfully served the church in various capacities. Terry’s passion for children led her to start a childcare service while also working the 11 PM to 7 AM shift at the University Hospital in Little Rock.
In 1998, God moved in her life, opening a new door when Larry’s job closed. The Moore family relocated to Virginia, where they joined Saint John Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Edward Crawley. Terry continued to serve faithfully in the church, teaching and working with the youth. Later, under the leadership of Pastor Dwight Batts Sr., she was elevated to the role of Missionary and, eventually, Evangelist.
When her husband, Elder Larry Moore, was appointed as Pastor of Friendship C.O.G.I.C., now New Beginning Worship Center, Terry became the First Lady of the church in 2016. It was during this time that God gave her the vision for the church’s name. Terry served the ministry wholeheartedly, holding various roles as a teacher, secretary, clerk, and treasurer, all without complaint. Her dedication extended beyond the church, as she worked tirelessly to serve the community, organizing programs like the annual back-to-school drive, feeding the hungry, prayer walks, and the Toys for Tots giveaway.
Her work in the church and the community continued until her health began to decline, but her faith never wavered. She also made an impact in the prison ministry until the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Terry was a faithful servant of God, her church, her district, and her community, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Evangelist Terry Lynne Moore is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Pastor Larry Moore; three sons, Cedric (Tasha) Christopher of Little Rock, Arkansas, Larry (Sharnice) Moore of Dinwiddie, Virginia, and Nicholas Ryan Moore of Emporia, Virginia; three brothers, Aldridge (Ann) Polk of Emerson, Arkansas, Wayne (Kasina) Polk of California, and Elgin (Diane) Polk of Rowlette, Texas; three grandsons, Cedric and Jaylen Christopher of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Jakhi and Kalise Moore of Virginia; three greatgrandchildren, Kacen, Kamani, and Lehlani Christopher of Little Rock, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
In the words of 2 Timothy 4:7-8, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day. And not to me only, but also to all who have loved His appearing.”
Evangelist Terry Lynne Moore will be deeply missed, but her legacy of faith and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
