Evelyn Epps Obituary

Lord, I will lift my eyes to the hills, Knowing my help is coming from You
Your peace You give me in time of the storm. You are the source of my strength,
You are the strength of my life, I lift my hands in total praise to You.

Evelyn Evone Epps, beloved daughter of the late Airfield Epps, Sr. and Anna Lee Wilkins Epps, began her journey through life on Tuesday, January 14, 1958, in Stoney Creek (Sussex County), Virginia.
Evelyn was educated in the Sussex County Public School System and at an early age, joined the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church of Jarratt, Virginia. It was there that her love for God was deepened and spiritual gifts nurtured. In 1983, Evelyn embraced the Scripture penned by David, (Psalm 84:10), "For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness" and joined the Usher Ministry under the leadership of Reverend Otis Pigford. You could find her at many of the services greeting friends, visitors and churches with her angelic smile.
Not only did Evelyn work for the Lord, but seeing the need to provide for herself and family she joined the workforce by securing several jobs over the years. Those jobs included her working at Georgia Pacific, Near-By Eggs, Greensville County School System and Boars Head. She took her work seriously and had a strong work ethic.
On Thursday, April 23, 2020, our dear loved one answered God's solemn call from earthly labor unto eternal rest, while at Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center of Emporia, Virginia.

The voice of Evelyn Evone Epps has been silenced, but her spirit lives on today and forever more in the hearts and minds of:  her siblings, Airfield Epps, Jr., Bobby Epps, Dorothy Epps, Lorraine Epps, Patricia Diane Epps and Delphine Epps all of Jarratt, Virginia, Donnell Epps (Sheila) of Emporia, Virginia, Gloria Mayor (Willie) of Richmond, Virginia; devoted niece and caregiver, Odell Epps (Richard Robinson) of Jarratt, Virginia; nieces, Kenisha Alston and Tameka Pegram of Jarratt, Virginia; nephews, Deshawn Epps of Emporia, Virginia and Leon Mallory; a host of other relatives and friends.
