Georgetta Mason Mayfield, was born April 24, 1940 in Sussex County, Virginia. She was the youngest child of the late Joe Mason Sr. and Helen Lundy Mason.
‘Jack’, as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who not only nurtured her family, but enriched the lives of many.
On Thursday, March 24, 2022; while in the care of Greensville Health & Rehabilitation Center of Emporia, Virginia, God lifted our dear loved one from this world of sin, sorrow and pain, to a place of peace and sweet eternal rest. Her seeds are well sown; her service on earth is complete, and she now experiences the victory and triumph of eternal life. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Mary Jane Williams and three brothers, Lindsay Mason, Joe Mason Jr., and Wiley Woodley.
Sleep on, beloved, sleep, and take thy rest; Lay down thy head upon the Saviour’s breast; We love thee well, but Jesus loves thee best. Her sweet spirit, caring heart and generosity will long be remembered by: two children, Terry M. Mason (Bridget) and Babette ‘Penny’ Mayfield both of Jarratt, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Kevin Chatmon, Sharika Worrell (Antonio), Rodney Benjamin, Terrance Benjamin, Nicholas Moore, Nyesha Pierce, Trindale Jones, Jalen Mason; six great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; niece, Audrey Mason; two nephews, Darrell Mason and Melvin Wilks; two devoted friends, Mertise Lane and Annie Peavey; a host of cousins and friends. “God could not be everywhere, therefore He created Mothers”
