Gina Paula Maria Turner was born August 9, 1960 to Frances Wyche Carter and the late Joseph Harrison Carter in Plainfield , New Jersey. She moved to Somerset, NJ where attended Saint Matthias Catholic School breaking color barriers by being the first black to attend. She became a member of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset, NJ singing in the choir.
While visiting her family in Emporia, VA she met the love of her life, Ricky Lee Turner, after knowing Gina for just one week he ask for her hand in marriage. To their union one daughter was born, Girika Lynn Turner.
Many may recognize face as being the first black representative in the Division of Motor Vehicles in Emporia, VA. She decided to take off with her very own travel agency, Ultimate Cruises which the first black travel agency in Emporia, VA.
Gina enjoyed family, traveling or just chilling. She was a fighter, Gina lost her battle on earth on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at her residence.
Gina was preceded in death by father, Joseph Harrison Carter and one sister, Sheree Moody.
She leaves to cherish in memory: her husband, Ricky Lee Turner; one daughter, Girika Lynn Turner; her mother, Frances E. Carter; three sisters, Debra Carter, Lisa J. Saunder (Reginald) and Jo Monique Z. Drinkards; two brothers, Gregory Butts and Sherown Carter.
