For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy
to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

GINNIE PERKINS DAVIS, daughter of the late Reverend Waddell and Deaconess Florence Perkins, was born on Monday, July 23rd, 1945, in Halifax County, North Carolina. She was the eldest of four siblings.
Ginnie accepted Christ early in life and joined Springfield Baptist Church. Later, she relocated to New York, where she united in Christian fellowship with New Cannon Baptist Church. Eventually, she settled in Emporia, Virginia, and joined Little Shiloh Baptist Church, where she faithfully served on various ministries until her health prevented her from continuing.
While in New York, Ginnie held various jobs, but her career ultimately flourished in Emporia, Virginia, where she worked at Greensville Memorial Hospital, now known as Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center. She retired in 2014 after many years of dedicated service.
On Wednesday, November 17th, 1973, Ginnie married Johnnie R. Davis, Sr., who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by one sister, Juanita Powell.
On Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, in the peace of her home, Ginnie gently crossed the threshold into eternal rest, with the words of her cherished hymn, "It is well with my soul," echoing in her heart.
Ginnie’s memory will be cherished by her loved ones: three daughters, Ashley ‘Nikki’ Davis and Audrey Brown of Emporia, Virginia, and Andree Lee (Anthony) of Skippers, Virginia; four sons-at-heart, Johnnie, Jr. (Patricia), Jarrett (Linda), and Roscoe of Richmond, Virginia, and Christopher of Emporia, Virginia; six grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Judith Epps (Robert, Sr.) and Vicelle Daniels of Emporia, Virginia; her brother, Wendell Perkins (Judy) of Rocky Point, North Carolina; her godson, Robert Epps, Jr. (Jamese) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; her goddaughter, Veronica Harris (Tracy) of Hampton, Virginia; dear friends, James Bunn, Cherry Anderson, and Wanda Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Ginnie leaves a legacy of love, faith, and service that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
Relatives and Friends are encouraged to visit Mrs. Davis' tribute wall to share memories, extend condolences and to order floral tributes, as sentiments to the family.
