Goldie Hughes Obituary

She’s in the sun, the wind, the rain, she’s in the air you breathe with every breath you take.

She sings a song of hope and cheer, there’s no more pain, no more fear.

You’ll see her in the clouds above, hear her whisper words of love,

you’ll be together before long, until then listen for her song.

Goldie Mae Robinson Hughes, began her journey through life in Greensville County, Virginia on Sunday, March 4, 1951. She was born to the parentage of the late Johnny Cato Robinson, Sr. and Ira Della Avent Threat.

Goldie was educated in the Greensville County School System. Early in life, she united in Christian Fellowship with Diamond Grove Baptist Church, Skippers, Virginia. Goldie enjoyed fishing, working in her beautiful flower garden and caring for her pets.

On Tuesday, May 10, 2022; while in the care of Battlefield Park Healthcare Center, Petersburg, Virginia; God lifted Goldie Mae Hughes from this world of sin, sorrow and pain, to a place of peace and sweet eternal rest. Her seeds are well-sown; her service on earth is complete, and she’s now basking in the victory and triumph of eternal life.

Treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of: two children, Douglas M. Lee, Jr. (Beverly) and Angela P. Pitt both of Emporia, Virginia; two grandchildren, Antwan Lee and Irena Lee both of Emporia, Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Aneri Lee, Ann Kelly and Amari Naser Lee Stith; her siblings, Betty Greene (Samuel), Roberta Mabrey, Dennis Robinson (Geraldine), Lathan Robinson and McArthur Robinson (Vicki) all of Emporia, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; including three special friends, Jessie Robinson, Ella Bailey and Ann Johnson.
