Ivory Pearl Hicks was born July 2, 1945 in Greensville County, VA to Harriett Bertha Hicks. God saw his earthly angel was getting tired, so He gathered her to His bosom, while she slept, in the comfort of her home. "Blake" as she was so fondly called, never got the opportunity to attend school. But she was a teacher in her own right. All of her siblings learned about genuine and unconditional love from her. Just being in her presence made one feel better. Her sweet, gentle spirit and innocence made her non-judgemental; a characteristic pleasing unto the Lord. Her joy and laughter was so infectious. She was always so very happy to see everyone. So much so she would say "Hello" or "Hey" to you two or three times. Even with her limited speech, if she knew you, she would speak to you and say your name. Oh what wonders to perform. In addition to her mother, Blake was also predeceased by four sibling; Shirley Mae Broady, Henry Lewis Hicks, Norfleet 'Jimbo' Hicks and Arthur 'Bill' Hicks. Blake leaves to cherish many beautiful memories: her siblings, Dorothy Hicks, Ollie Mae Hicks and Robert Hicks of the home, Carolyn Carter (Solomon) of Littleton, NC, James Hicks (Dorothy Mae) of Skippers, VA, John Edward Hicks of Emporia, VA and Waverly Hicks (Emma) of Mesa, AZ; two sisters-in-law, Iris G. Hicks of Emporia, VA and Elaine Hicks of Freeman, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
