John Sylvester 'Bareback' Easter, Sr.

John Sylvester Easter, Sr., was born on Tuesday, September 24, 1963, in Emporia, Virginia to the late Walter Seaborn and Celestine Easter. John was the youngest of six children.

John was educated in the Greensville County Public School System. He was gainfully employed with Vulcan Material for thirty plus years. He was a faithful and dedicated hard worker. He loved his job, and they loved him. Earning the name ‘Bareback’ as his CB handle. If he was not working on the job, you could find him doing some of his favorite hobbies: working on cars, trucks, lawnmowers, appliances, mopeds - you name it, he did it!

John also played softball from childhood to adulthood. Playing outfield was his favorite. If the ball was hit on his side of the field, you could count it as an out because he was going to run it down and throw you out. John was always willing to lend a helping hand and would give you the shirt off his back. He always offered his advice whether you wanted to hear it or not. Straightforward and to the point that was him. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who loved his family.

John departed this life suddenly on the morning of Friday, October 21, 2022; while at Bon Secours Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center, Emporia, Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Gene Easter.

John leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted friend, Cheryl Moody; one son, John Easter, Jr. (Marie) of Richmond, Virginia; four children-at-heart, Kiesha, Annesia, Ali and Thomas all of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Teira, Dae ‘Kima, Marley and Janna; three brothers, Clarance Easter (Juanita) and Ernest Easter (Shonda) all of Emporia, Virginia and Samuel Easter (Alma) of Lawrenceville, Virginia; one sister, Martha Carter (Johnnie) of Plymouth, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Relatives and Friends are encouraged to visit Mr. Easter's  tribute wall to share memories, extend condolences and to order floral tributes, as sentiments to the family.
