"After the clouds, the sunshine, after the winter, spring,
after the shower, the rainbow, for life is a changeable thing.
After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease,
after life's cares and sorrows, the comfort and sweetness of peace."
Kay Frances Rawls McCray, began her journey through life on Wednesday, October 19, 1949, in Occoneechee Neck (Northampton County), North Carolina. She was born to the parentage of the late Collin Richard and Beatrice Elizabeth Ramsey Rawls.
Early in life, Kay accepted Christ and united in Christian fellowship with the Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church, Jackson, North Carolina, where she became an active member. She was educated in the Northampton County Public School System, graduating from Gumberry High School, class of 1968. Her passion was to become a Certified Nursing Assistant, so she could share her compassion and love for others. Kay was well known for playing bingo, cooking, dancing, singing, traveling in her spare time and her fashion sense for hats. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. It was never a dull moment with Kay.
On Thursday April 16, 2020, our beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt and friend, quietly transitioned from this earthly life unto life eternal; while in the care of Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia. In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by: sisters, Doris Herron and Celestine Rebecca Garris-Bey; step-sister, Terry Sledge and brother, Eldridge Rawls.
Though the clouds may hang over, there will be a brighter day. In that land they call heaven, God shall wipe all tears away.
