Kendra 'Tink' Walton Obituary

“Those we love remain with us, for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade because a loved one’s gone. T hose we love can never be more than a thought apart. For as long as there is memory, Tink will live on in our hearts.

Kendra Nicole Walton, affectionately known to many as “Tinkabell,” was born on Friday, October 30th, 1981, in Emporia, Virginia, to the late Gletis Mejet Butts Walton and David Lee Walton. She spent her early years in Emporia, where she was surrounded by the love of family and the close-knit bonds of lifelong friends. From a young age, Kendra’s strength of spirit, honesty, and deeply caring heart became the foundation of her character.

Growing up, she built lasting relationships that stood the test of time. Her warmth and infectious personality made her a beloved figure among those who had the pleasure of knowing her. With a vibrant sense of humor and a playful spirit, Kendra could light up any room. She loved to sing—though even she would laugh at her own “enthusiastic” rather than “tuneful” performances—and she never missed an episode of her favorite show, In the Heat of the Night.

Kendra found joy in life’s simplest moments. She loved being outdoors, spending time with friends, and simply sitting outside in good company. These peaceful moments of connection brought her deep happiness. Whether through her words, her presence, or a shared laugh, Kendra had a remarkable gift for making others feel seen and valued.

Above all, Kendra’s life was a testament to integrity, kindness, and love. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Shardell and Kaleah Walton, and a proud grandmother to her cherished grandson, Jayson Deloatch. Her family was her heart, and she poured her love into them every single day.

On Monday, September 29th, 2025, while in the compassionate care of Bon Secours Southside Regional Medical Center, Kendra peacefully entered eternal rest at the age of 43.

She is preceded in death by her loving mother, Gletis Mejet Butts Walton, and her dear brothers, Neombre Jones and Eric Butts. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories in the hearts of those who survive her: her father, David Lee Walton; her sister, Chris Walton; her brother, Shelton Jones; her daughters, Shardell and Kaleah; her grandson, Jayson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who will miss her dearly.

Kendra Nicole “Tinkabell” Walton may no longer walk among us, but her spirit lives on in the laughter she shared, the love she gave, and the many lives she touched. Her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her.
