“God saw you getting tired, And a cure was not to be,
So He put His arms around you, And whispered, “Come to me…”
Mary Pullen Crumpler daughter of the late Buster and Ella Kindred Pullen, was born on Sunday, July 1, 1928 in San Angelo, Texas, where she also grew up, was educated, met and married the late Benjamin Franklin Crumpler, Sr. This union was blessed with six loving children.
Mary was a member of the Church of Christ. Her faithfulness to the Lord’s Church continued while she lived and served in Newark, New Jersey, under the leadership of Dr. Eugene Lawton. As life progressed, she relocated to Emporia, Virginia, where she continued to serve, until her health began to fail.
Mary was loved by many. She would give you the clothes off of her back. If you needed food, she would go without to make sure you had it. She was not only a mother to her six children, but also to her grands, great-grands and great great-grands and even their friends.
Oh, they tell me of a home, Far beyond the skies. Oh, they tell me of a home, So far away. Yes, they tell me of a home, Where no storm clouds rise. Oh, they tell me, Yes, they tell me of an uncloudy day. On Friday, September 30, 2022; while in the serenity of her home, God lifted Mary from this world of sin, sorrow and pain, to a place of peace and sweet eternal rest. Her seeds are well-sown; her service on earth is complete, and she’s now basking in the victory and triumph of eternal life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her beloved husband, Benjamin Sr.; three children, Benjamin Jr. ‘Squeaky’; Mary Belle Campbell and Benny Lee Crumpler; grandson, Tory Slade; great-grandson, Jaquan Crumpler; siblings, Charlie, Jacob, Willie, Ann Lois, Olvis, Saralyn and Mabelean and niece, Gloria Jean Crumpler.
Your life was full of loving deeds, forever thoughtful of our special needs. Today and tomorrow, our whole life through, we will always love and cherish you. Her sweet spirit, caring heart and generosity will long be remembered by all those whose lives she touched. We who remain, struck by the bitter pain of death, but satisfied with the promise made by God, that He would wipe all tears from our eyes are: three children, Timothy Crumpler, Blanche Lowery and Linda Bailey (Minister Marvin Bailey); her loving caregiver and companion, McCoy White; caregiver and granddaughter, Wanda Crumpler; loving and caring great-granddaughter, Taniya ‘Tee-Tee’ Crumpler; three generations of grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
