Mary Davis Powell

Mary Ruth Davis Powell, daughter of the late Colonial and Rowena Moore Davis was born on December 5, 1914 in Greensville County, Virginia. She departed this life at the age of 100 years old on December 10, 2014 surrounded by her children. Mary educated in Greensville County, VA. AT an early age she joined the Rocky Mount Baptist Church. As a member she served on the Missionary and Deaconess Board and sang with the Senior Choir. She faithfully attended Sunday Services and Sunday School until her health failed. "Grandma" as everyone so affectionately called her. enjoyed spending time with family and friends, tending to her garden, planting flowers sewing, playing checkers, completing crossword puzzles and family history. She met and married George Washington Powell and to this union seven children were born, three predeceased her, Linberg Powell, Orine Adams and James S. Powell. Mary leaves to cherish in memory two daughters, Mary Rawlings of Greensville County, VA and Evelyn Jefferson (Andrew) of Brunswick County, VA, two sons, Irvin Powell of Richmond, VA and John Powell (Nannie) of Brunswick County, VA, 19 Grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Linda Powell. 2 sisters-in-law, Mildred Adkins and Catherine Claiborne
