Mary Alice (Powell) 'Sis' Rawlings

Mrs. Mary Alice Powell Rawlings, age 82 of Emporia, Virginia, departed this earthly life on Friday, August 5, 2022,  while in the care of Accordius Health & Rehabilitation Center of Emporia, Virginia.  Sis attended public school in Emporia, Virginia. She accepted Christ at an early age and maintained a close relationship with Christ throughout her life.  Sis was an avid reader. Sis’s hobby and love of her life was planting flowers and watching her flowers grow and bloom. “In joy or sadness, flowers are our constant friend” and for her this was true. 

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Fitzhugh Rawlings. To this union two children were born, Roslyn Jones and Wayne Rawlings.

Sis was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Powell, two sisters, Evelyn Jefferson, and Orine Adams, four brothers, Lindberg, James, Irvin and John Powell and two sisters-in-laws.

She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter Roslyn Green (Wayne), son, Wayne Rawlings; two grandchildren, Darlwin Lee (Chandra) and Laqushia Williams, five great grandchildren, Asanti Hunter, Daquan Hunter, Waikiki Hunter, LaShay Lee, and Darlwin Lee, Jr.; one aunt and  a  host of other relatives and friends. Two devoted nieces and one  devoted  nephew, Patsy Turner, JoAnne Greene and Thomas Jefferson.

Relatives and Friends are encouraged to visit Mrs. Rawlings'  tribute wall to share memories, extend condolences and to order floral tributes, as sentiments to the family.
