ALICE ANNE TAYLOR ALLEN, born on December 19th, 1943, to the late Lynwood Taylor, Sr. and Eva Fullenwilder James, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication.
Alice was a proud product of the Richmond Public Schools, where one of her fondest memories was serving as a majorette, marching proudly with the Armstrong High School Marching Band. Her joy in this role reflected her spirited nature and love for community.
Throughout her life, Alice was no stranger to hard work. She held numerous jobs, always striving to provide for her family. Before her illness, she found fulfillment in private duty work, where her compassion and care touched many lives.
Alice accepted Christ at an early age, laying the foundation for a lifelong journey of faith. In 1992, she rededicated her life to Christ at The Joy Christian Tabernacle under the guidance of Pastor Keith F. Braggs, Sr. Her spiritual journey led her to The Richmond Christian Center, and eventually, God called her to move to Emporia, Virginia, where she met and later married the late Elder Leamon Allen. Alice continued her faithful service under the leadership of Bishop Rudolph Drake.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, son, and daughter. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted daughters, Toni Wright Gayles (Don) and Charlene Friend; two brothers, Lynwood Taylor, Jr. (Charlotte) and Clarence Taylor Harrell; one sister, Arlette Taylor; and one uncle, Herbert Taylor (Lillian). She was also blessed with eleven grandchildren, twenty-one greatgrandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Alice’s memory will be especially cherished by her devoted brother, Lynwood Taylor, Jr. of San Diego, California, her daughter, Toni W. Gayles, and dear friends, Nina Friend, Sue Taylor, and Bishop Rudolph Drake and his wife, Mrs. Gloria Drake.
