Minister Ella Tucker Jarrett, a beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted servant of God, transitioned to her eternal home on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born on Saturday, July 1st, 1933, in Greensville County, Virginia, to the late Fred A. Tucker and Effie May Tucker.
Minister Jarrett was a woman of grace, wisdom, and unshakable faith. Known for her kindhearted and compassionate spirit, she touched countless lives with her love and devotion to Christ. She received her education in Greensville County and spent her life sharing God’s message of hope and salvation with everyone she encountered.
Her spiritual journey began at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Skippers, Virginia, under the leadership of Reverend Wright. She later became a member of the Glorious Church of God in Christ, nurtured by Mother Elnora Lundy. Afterward, she joined St. Matthews House of Prayer, where she served faithfully under the guidance of her brother, Bishop James Tucker. In her later years, she became a cherished member of Salt of the Earth Ministry, serving under Pastor Jerry Powell.
Minister Jarrett’s commitment to spreading the gospel knew no bounds. Whether through the airwaves of WEVA radio station, while styling clients’ hair in her kitchen, or during heartfelt visits to nursing home residents, her love for Christ and others radiated in all that she did.
In addition to her parents, Minister Jarrett was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Jarrett; three brothers, Warren “Buck” Tucker, Thomas Tucker, and Bishop James Tucker; and two sisters, Mary Jane Sykes and Nellie Mae Taylor.
Minister Ella Tucker Jarrett is survived by her only living brother, Fred Tucker (Connie); her children, Bobby Tucker, Beverly Lee (Doug), Connie Robinson (Calvin), Clayton Jarrett, all of Emporia, Virginia, and Carlton Jarrett, Sr. (Debbie), of Gaston, North Carolina; and her bonus children, Diane Felder (Lincoln) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mary Davis, Barbara Thomas, Patricia Jarrett (Barry), Elnora Jones, Walter Jarrett, James Jarrett, and John Jarrett (Joyce), all of Richmond, Virginia. She also leaves behind twenty eight grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, thirty four great-great-grandchildren, and six great-great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will cherish her memory. Minister Ella Tucker Jarrett lived a life devoted to faith, family, and service. Her legacy of love and compassion will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew her.
