Mollie Jean Holmes of Richmond, Virginia departed this life on November 2, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Mollie, better known as Jeanie, was born on September 28, 1941 in Skippers, Virginia to the late Garland and Queen Victoria Wright. Mollie attended Edward W. Wyatt High School and was an active member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She met the love of her life, Mr. Ernest L. Holmes, Sr., at a young age in Skippers, VA. Mollie and Ernest, Sr., eventually married and celebrated their anniversary together every year on New Year's eve for fifty-three years. Upon relocating to Richmond, Virginia, she began working and eventually retired from Reynold's Metal (North Plant). Mollie enjoyed cooking, especially her famous sweet potato pie. You could often find her in the kitchen singing gospel songs by some of her favorites; Dixie Hummingbirds, The Mighty Clouds of Joy and Slim and the Supreme Angels. Mollie helped any and everyone she came in contact with. Mollie was affectionate and often told her family how much she loved them until the end of her journey. Mollie leaves to cherish her fond memories her husband, Ernest L. Holmes, Sr.; children, Cheryl Haskell, Brenda Holmes, Joy Holmes, Lana Holmes (Deceased) and Ernest L. Holmes, Jr. all of Richmond, VA; granddaughter, Janel Holmes, one brother, Charles Wright (Vernell) of Chesapeake, VA, one sister: Rementha Odom (Roy) of Norfolk, VA, four sisters-in-law: Pauline Wright, Juanita Moore of Richmond, VA, Barbara Johnson and Shirley Holmes of Emporia, VA, one brother-in-law: Lloyd Holmes of Glen Allen, VA, a devoted great aunt and best friend: Beatrice Wright of Emporia, VA, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
