Percy Peavy Obituary

“Upon life’s journey, we are given opportunities to plant seeds of goodness, seeds of kindness, and seeds of blessings that bestow our hearts, our work and our being.

For those that sow the fields with loving generosity, so shall they reap the abundant harvest of eternal life.”

In humble submission to the will of God, we pause today to honor the LIFE and LEGACY of PERCY LEE PEAVY who was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Percy was born on Saturday, October 27, 1928 in Salipta, Alabama to the parentage of the late Claude Peavy and Alma Beckham. In 1954, Percy met Ann Lee Rose in New York, who would soon become the love of his life. During April of 1974, Percy and Ann were united in Holy Matrimony and began to rear seven wonderful children.

Percy was a faithful member of the Mount Hermon Baptist Church of Bronx, New York, where for years, he was a member of the Male Chorus. Upon relocating to Jarratt, Virginia in 1988, Percy united in Christian Fellowship with First Baptist Church of Jarratt. However, due to his declining health, he was unable to attend as often as he would have like to.

Percy retired as a Government Licensed Plumber and Pipefitter from the General Service Administration (GSA) of New York. He was a proud man and good father to his children and many others, who often referred to him as ‘Pop’. He was well respected as the man of the house. His love for extended family, which included his nieces, nephews, cousins and New York church family - too numerous to name, was great and hopefully felt by all.

On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, Percy Lee Peavy answered God’s solemn call from earthly labor unto sweet eternal rest, while in the comfort of his home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: daughter, Sheila Green; granddaughter, Nicole Lemon; brothers, Lee Kimble and Jimmie Lee and brother-in-law, Master Sgt. Carlton Lunday.

Memories of his LOVE, DIGNITY and FAITH will long be remembered by: his wife, Ann Lee Peavy; children, Percy O’Neil Peavy, Eugene Peavy (Shirley), Delores Peavy, CPL MacArthur Rose and Archie Rose; grandchildren, Dientre Le’on, Janet Tull (Godfrey), Jans LaQuitta Harrison (Alfred), Tamitra Peavy, Aleesha Peavy, Felicia Taylor (Emmett), Alicia Williams (Mark), Shaneik Tazewell (Cory), McArthur Rose, Jr (Marcia), Michael Rose, Natia Banks, Archie Rose, Jr. and Alexis Rose; great-grandchildren, De Lorean Amani Le’on, D’Armand Julius Le’on, Dr. LaTeira Haney, Keith Tull, JayShawn Molton, Carey Peavy, Dominique Peavy, Anthony Harrison, Ieshah Peavy, Aniyah Harrison, Alfred Harrison, Alaysja Harrison, Allan Johnson, Shanice Johnson, Charles Bryant, Destiny Williams, Shakori Tazewell, Avantae Mark Williams, Khamari Taylor, Courtney Tazewell, Peyton Pimentel, TaySha Rose, Saania Rose, Malia Rose and Mara Rose; great, great-grandchildren, Knox Dylan Le’on, Kyla Tull, Kylee Tull, Zaria Johnson, Ta’Nea Johnson and Sage Bryant; brother, Zack Kimble; sisters-in-law, Roberta Key and Virginia Selman; two devoted cousins, Flora Nell McKenzie and Leslie Hunter; a host of other loving relatives and friends.
