Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed:
lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
~ Psalm 61: 1-2
Ricky R. Mason, son of the late Wesley Mason and Annie Mae Hicks Mason, was born on March 25, 1959 in Greensville County, Virginia.
Ricky was educated in the Sussex County School System. He graduated from Sussex Central High with the class of 1977. At an early age, Ricky accepted Christ and was baptized at the Morning Star Baptist Church in Jarratt, Virginia.
Ricky dedicated 35 years of his life to several jobs, which included; General Motors, Astra Zeneca and BJs Wholesale in Wilmington, Delaware. There are so many good things that can be said about him, but when life is lived in a way that Ricky lived, words are inadequate. His steadfastness, kindness, honesty, compassion, empathy and love should compel us all to be like Ricky! Ricky’s passion was cooking. He was also a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. Emmitt Smith was his favorite player.
On Saturday, June 11, 2022, our dear loved one peacefully departed this earthly life, while in the care of Accordius Health & Rehabilitation Center of Emporia, Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his paternal grandparents, Willis and Roxie Mason and Robert and Susie Ethel Hicks; three brothers, Wesley Jr, Charles and Alvin Mason; one sister, Dorothy Seaborn; a niece, Tracy Mason Wells; one great-niece, Raven Mason; two great great-nieces, Mariyana and Mariyah Williams and a cousin, Albert ‘Slick’ Hicks.
Ricky will be truly missed and as we bow to the will of God and rejoice in his victorious journey in this cruel thing called life. Those left to cherish the legacy of his life are: his siblings, Peggy L. Mitchell, Roger L Mason, Doris Mason and Rita Trisvan all of Jarratt, Virginia, Jerry Mason (Donna) of Littleton, North Carolina and Wayne Johnson (Deidra) of Chesterfield, Virginia; his beloved aunt, Maebelle Hicks of New Castle, Delaware; one uncle, James ‘Jinx’ Mason of Jarratt, Virginia; two lifelong devoted friends, Tuesday Briggs of Jarratt, Virginia and Marie Adair Hicks of Wilmington, Delaware; a devoted cousin, who wishes to remain anonymous; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
