Royal Zhiyon Kemp, age 6, entered eternal rest on January 19, 2022 peacefully in his home. Royal was born on October 20, 2015 in Petersburg, VA to Chandris Kemp.

During his brief visit on Earth, Royal enjoyed receiving tons of love and affection (mainly kisses on his face) from his Mama, cuddling with his Elmo and monkey, and listening to music and his Gahmee’s voice while she sang and played with him.

Royal was affectionately referred to as “Royale with Cheese” by his Uncle Donny. His Aunt Kay Kay was known to keep his locs in tip-top condition. Royal enjoyed being fed Cheetos and gummy bears by his little brother Roman; Roman was very protective of his big brother Royal. Despite the challenges he incurred in his short life, Royal would often be seen with a smile on his face.

Royal leaves to cherish his memory in the hearts of his Mama, Chandris T. Kemp; brother, Roman Zaccai Kemp; Gahmee, Michelle A. Kemp; grandfather, Stanley W. Kemp; great-grandparents, Barbara Wright, Cynthia Kemp and Linwood and Gloria Hall; aunt, Kayla S. Kemp; uncles, Donavan T. Kemp, Martell D. Jackson and Tyson Broadnax; great-aunts, Karen (Mendel), Kristie and LaTonja; great-uncles, Linwood Jr, Ronald (Wanda) and Thomas (Adrianne); one great, great-aunt; three great, great-uncles; a host of cousins and relatives; a devoted PCA “aunt” Courtney Pair; his Papa, Bryan. Royal touched the lives of all who knew him including those in his educational environment, his first teacher, Bryana Goode, Angela Bennett, Mrs. Rita Williams, Mrs. Hunter, Mrs. Crane, Ms. Taper, Brenda Leonard, Sheila Tyler-Smith and Assistant Principal Hand.

Royal will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
