As the sun shined on a beautiful pleasant day, a quiet voice called our beloved Samuel Floyd High to a home of eternal rest. ‘Dump’, affectionately known by many, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 2:15 pm, while in the care of VCU - MCV Hospital, Richmond, Virginia.
Samuel obtained his education through the public school of Greensville County. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Savior and united in Christian Fellowship with Macedonia Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful member until his demise.
On September 4, 1965, Samuel was united in Holy Matrimony to Liza Lenora High. In this union they were loving parents to many.
Samuel was preceded in death by: his parents, George Warner and Amanda High; son-at-heart, Wesley Taylor; his brothers, George, William, Willie and James; his sisters, Ruth Roberts, Mertise Powell, Lucille Ingram and India Rice.
Samuel leaves to cherish many memories: his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Liza Lenora High of the home; a daughter, Carolyn Roberts (Andrew) of Gaston, North Carolina, one granddaughter, Regan Drake; one great-granddaughter, Reginae Drake-Lee of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; one sister, Hattie Gooden (Robert) of Macon, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Carolyn High of Emporia, Virginia; two special friends, Eddie Webb and Robert Boone of both Gaston, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, relatives and friends.
Relatives and Friends are encouraged to visit Mr. High's tribute wall to share memories, extend condolences and to order floral tributes, as sentiments to the family.
The Management and Staff of Knox-High Mortuary, Inc. is privileged to provide
"Distinctive Services, With The Essence Of Excellence"

We ask that you join us in remembering the family in both thought and prayer.
