Sandra Powell-Wyche Obituary

Remembering “Sand”...

“Remembering you is easy, we do it everyday,

Missing you is a heartache, which will never go away.”

Sandra Lavern Powell Wyche ‘Sand’, was brought into this world on Sunday, August 8, 1971 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was born to the parentage of Charles Cain and the late Wanda Powell.

Sandra was a beautiful and bright soul who touched the hearts of everyone she came in contact with. Many who knew Sandra always saw her full of joy brightening their day with her smile. During her childhood she lived in Emporia, Virginia, where she later graduated from Greensville County High School.

As life progressed, ‘Sand’ as she was affectionately called, went on to pursue a career in the nursing field. She became a LPN and dedicated herself on becoming a nurse. She was very passionate about being a nurse, as she loved helping others as much as she could. She truly had one of the biggest hearts you will ever encounter, to know her was to love her and she was loved by many throughout. Westminster Canterbury was her last place of employment; she loved her job and the people she worked for and alongside with, loved her back just the same.

Wings...Are carved surfaces that lift…Wings enable you to soar beyond all your self-imposed restrictions and take you to the lofty heights you dare to dream of. Wings can offer protection and comfort, as in “under one’s wing.” Wings remind us of the angels that guard and guide us from above, and of those angels that walk among us. Wings remind us that it is in our power to be an angel to the next person, who may just happen to need one. Anything is possible, when you have wings. On Wednesday, December 16th, 2020 in Richmond, Virginia, Sandra received “two wings to veil her face, two wings to veil her feet and two wings to fly away, so the world could no longer do her any harm”. She is now reunited with those who preceded her in death: her mother, Wanda Powell. She and her husband Curtis Rashawn Wyche, will always be loved, missed and never forgotten.

Though the clouds may hang over, there will be a brighter day. In that land that they call heaven, God shall wipe all tears away. We who remain with faith and assurance that God will see us through are: her children, Ka’Darius Powell and Trevon Powell; father, Charles Cain; grandmother, Celeste Cain; uncles, Lewis Cain and Bob Cain; aunt, Cleo Adams; sister, Vanessa Harrison; brothers, Edward Powell and Donnell Powell; step-sister, DaMiracle Drumgoole; nieces, Sheletta Powell, Kiara Powell, Monicia Powell, Jamera Powell and Brehna Powell; nephews, Troy Powell, Demetrius Powell, Rashard Powell, Brandon Powell, Detron Powell, Edward Powell Jr., Samarje Powell, Jawon Powell and Kylee Powell; cousins, Antoinette Cain, Andrea Rowe, Cherrell Cain, Ari Cain, Zion Cain, Lisa Cain, Quinton Cain, Aaron Marks, Duke Marks and Mavis Marks; bestfriends, Aretha Banks, Adrian Snead; four special friends, Johnson, Downing, Aretha and Erica; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends
