Shirldene Marie Boone

Shirldene Marie Boone was born on June 26, 1967 in Emporia, VA. As a child she regularly visited Shiloh Baptist Church and she became a member of Rising Star Baptist Church. Shirldene attended Lake Clifton High and was a graduate of Greensville County High School. She eventually received Bachelor's Degree in Human Services from Bluefield College.

Shirldene was the eldest sister of five siblings. She was preceded in death by Sylvester Mayes, Jr. (1965) and Gail Mayes (2007). She departed this life on Monday, November 23, 2015 in the Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond, VA

Shirldene was a very determined and loving person, which eventually led to her meeting her wonderful husband, Alphonso "Tom" Boone, who remain by her side for the rest of her life. Their 25 years of marriage would bring about two loving sons, Tavon Boone and Alphonso "Al" Boone who remained by her side as well.

She took extreme pride in her family and culture, her job and helping whoever she could possibly help in life. She loved to read, cook and enjoyed spending time with all her family and friends

She was an excellent wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Alphonso W. Boone; two sons, Tavon W. Boone of Virginia Beach, VA and Alphonso S. Boone of Raleigh, NC; parents, Dorothy Mayes and Rev.Sylvester (Minnie) Mayes of Emporia, VA; three siblings, eldest brother, Nelson (Shaka) Mayes of Emporia, VA, youngest brother, Jeroy (Towanda) Mayes of Portsmouth, VA and youngest sister, Mindy Mayes of Indianapolis, IN; one nephew, Chaz Powell of Baltimore, MD; four nieces, Lynae Powell of Baltimore, MD, Makaila Mayes and Malia Mayes of Portsmouth, VA and Anisa Mayes of Chesterfield, VA and other nieces and nephews as well; seven aunts, two uncles, so many cousins bu not limited to Shonda Sykes, Lisa Cain special friends that were more like her sister's too, Lisa Havell and Tanya Moore.
