Shirley Mae Broady

Shirley Mae Broady was born on March 7, 1941 to the parentage of the late Thomas P. High and the late Harriett Hicks in Greensville County, Virginia. She went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2015 at the Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, VA. At an early age, Shirley accepted Christ and joined the Jerusalem Baptist Church in Emporia, VA. She served for many years in various auxiliaries including ushering, an active member of the Mother Board Ministry, sing in the Senior Choir and the Holy Majestics, of which she was a co-founder. She also served as co-supervisor of the church Young Adult and Junior Choir. Shirley was preceded in death by four siblings; Henry Lewis Hicks (Shirley), Norfleet 'Jimbo' Hicks, Arthur 'Bill' Hicks and Mary Louise High. Cherishing loving memories, are seven brothers; James Hicks (Dorothy Mae), Robert High, Robert Hicks all of Skippers, VA, Thomas High (Nathelia) of Mount Ranier, MD, Willie High (Rosa) of Gaston, NC, John Hicks of Emporia, VA and Waverly Hicks (Emma) of Mesa, AZ; six sisters, Juanita Wilson of Stanford. CT, Ivory P. Hicks, Dorothy Hicks, and Ollie M. Hicks of the home, Delois Mixon (Will) of Gaston, NC, and Carolyn Carter (Solomon) of Littleton, NC; a sister-in-law, Iris G. Hicks of Emporia, VA; three aunts, Susie Jones (Willie), Geraldine Hill and Gwendolyn High; two nieces she helped raise, Farrah Hicks and Portia Easter and her 'baby' Jordan hicks; a special friend. Bertha Webb, and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
