Remembering Timmie...
The life of this hard-working, kind-hearted and humble soul began on September 13, 1959. Timmie McCoy Harrison was born on a farm in Drewryville, VA, to his loving parents, Mr. John and Mrs. Edna Harrison. Timmie, the fifth child, was surrounded by six siblings and reared by love. His Christian parents emphasized the importance of respect, loving thy neighbor, honesty, sharing, patience and “family first”. He learned many life lessons during his youth that would carry him throughout his life.
At an early age, he was baptized at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Southampton, VA. His Christian faith continued with his acquaintance to Salem Baptist Church in Emporia VA, until God called him home. Timmie’s professional career included a 30 year retirement from Deerfield Correctional Center in 2012. After a couple months of retirement, Timmie’s restless nature returned him to the department of corrections facility, as a part-time worker.
In 1985, Timmie began a 35 year journey of love and marriage with his soulmate, Linda D. Johnson. Together they lovingly reared their son, Timmie Jr and daughter, Brittany. Their happy love affair and journey throughout parenthood were the true highlights of his life. His biggest joy was spending time with his granddaughter, Torrie; while waiting for his next granddaughter, baby Ellis. The love they shared for each other and their children reflected in the devotion and support they provided to each other. Timmie was an avid hunter, fisherman, jack of all trades and a “true” Dallas Cowboy fan. A true provider to his family and a devoted friend to many.
Timmie was loved for the generous spirit and quiet humor that he shared with the world and abiding love he held for his wife, son, daughter, son-in-law, soon to be daughter-in-law, granddaughters, siblings, extended family and friends.
Timmie transitioned to eternal peace with his Lord and Savior on February 25, 2021. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 35 years, Linda D. Harrison; son, Timmie Harrison Jr. (fiance' Ciara) of Chesterfield, VA; daughter, Brittany Harrison- Ellis (Darryl) of Clayton, NC; his precious granddaughter, Torrie M. Harrison and he was happily awaiting the arrival of baby Ellis; three sisters, Joyce Harrison Brown of Chesterfield, VA, Janet Dugger (Frederick) of Prince George, VA and Joanie Boykins (Lee) of Emporia, VA; two brothers, Keith Harrison (Mary) of Emporia, VA and Randolph Harrison (Sherry) of Prince George, VA; his only aunt, Dollye Herndon of Pittstown, New Jersey; his mother-in-law, Wilma Johnson of Emporia, VA; three sisters-in-law, Deanna Johnson of Chesapeake, VA, Theresa Carbitt of Emporia, VA and Linesther Carbitt of Lansdowne, PA; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends, whom he loved dearly.
Timmie’s love and energetic spirit will be with us forever.
