The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shaddow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. ~Psalm 23
Virgie Wilks Reese, daughter of the late Johnnie and Mary Lou Wilks, was born on Thursday, October 13th 1932 in Greensville County, Virginia.
Early in life, Virgie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united in Christian fellowship with Shiloh Baptist Church of Emporia, Virginia. For many years, she was employed at Days Inn of Emporia, from which she retired.
Virgie was united in Holy Matrimony to Ardee Reese. This union was blessed with the birth of five children: Joanne Taylor, Colleen Honeycutt, Marylene Pope, Teresa Brown and Calvin Reese. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She embraced the natural beauty of the world and had a strong passion for helping anyone she could. Virgie possessed strength, tenacity and a smile sure to brighten anyone’s day. She was also one to never complain. In her spare time, she found great joy watching soap operas and Tyler Perry movies.
On Friday, April 15th 2022, while in the care of Bon Secour Southside Medical Center, Petersburg Virginia, God plucked a beautiful flower to add to his heavenly bouquet. Virgie was escorted to the gates of heaven by one of the angels to join those family members who preceded her in death: her parents, husband, sister, four brothers and two daughters.
Her spirit lives and many sweet memories will forever remain in the hearts of: two her daughters, Marylene Pope (Joe Pope) of South Chesterfield, Virginia and Teresa Brown (Lafayette Brown) of Richmond, Virginia; one son, Calvin Reese (friend, Connie Robinson) of Emporia, Virginia; five grandchildren, Tina Reese, Donnell Reese, Michael Summersett, Tia Weaver and Trevin Reese; eleven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Relatives and Friends are encouraged to visit Mrs. Reese's tribute wall to share memories, extend condolences and to order floral tributes, as sentiments to the family.
The Management and Staff of Knox-High Mortuary, Inc. is privileged to provide
