Willie Powell, Sr. Obituary

Willie Harden Powell, Sr. was born to Rosa Mae Cain Powell and the late Lars McVan Powell, Sr. in Greensville County, VA on October 12, 1944. While in the early morning of July 5, 2016, Willie took God's hands and went home to be with the LORD.
At an early age, Willie joined the Rocky Mount Baptist Church. He was a dedicated member of the choir and served with honor as a trustee. As a choir member he would not lead a song because he enjoyed just being in the number.
In his dedication to sing and praise the LORD he was a devoted member with the United Men in Praise and the UniFyde Praise Ministry.
Our loved one was a kind hearted and loveable person that would do anything for anyone that he could. In December 2006, Willie retired from Georgia-Pacific Plywood Plant in Emporia, VA after 40 years of dedicated service and hard work. After retirement Willie started Powell's Lawn Care, a business that he dreamed of doing after retiring. In his business he demonstrated pride in his work and made many friends along the way.
Willie leaves his cherished loved ones, his wife of 19 years, Veronica Powell; his mother, Rosa M. Powell; sons, Willie H. Powell, Jr. (Earlene, deceased) and Jeffrey Powell of Emporia, VA; daughter, Jennifer Powell of Midlothian, VA.
